What to look for in a wedding photo sharing app

Updated 19 October 2026

There are many ways to collect guest photos. These are the questions that decide whether guests actually use it and whether you end up with the photos.

1. Do guests need to download an app or make an account?

This matters more than anything else. Every extra step loses guests, especially older relatives. The best option is a QR code that opens a camera straight away, a disposable camera app. SEENCAM opens as an App Clip on iPhone and in the browser on any other phone, with no account.

2. Does it work on every phone?

Your guests won't all have the same phone. Check that the guest side works on iPhone and Android, not just in one ecosystem.

3. Are photos collected during the event, or uploaded afterwards?

Apps that rely on guests uploading from their camera roll after the wedding collect far fewer photos, because people forget (if your day is already past, see getting photos from guests after the wedding). A shared camera that collects each photo as it's taken gets the whole night. More in how to collect wedding photos from your guests.

4. When do photos appear, and who sees them?

Some couples want a live wall of photos; others prefer a reveal after the party so guests stay present. Look for control over when photos appear and over who can see what. SEENCAM lets the host choose a reveal time (during the event, at the end, or 12 or 24 hours later) and whether each guest sees every photo or only the ones they're in.

5. Is it private?

Check that the album is invite-only, that photos can be reported, and what happens to face data if the app finds people in photos. In SEENCAM, the photo matching runs on the guest's phone and faces are never uploaded.

6. What does it cost, and who pays?

Look for one clear price per event rather than a subscription you have to remember to cancel, and make sure guests never pay. SEENCAM is free for up to 10 guests, with one-time purchases for bigger rolls.

7. Can you get the photos out?

You should be able to save individual photos or the whole album at full quality. Extras like short video clips and a ready-made reel for Instagram are a bonus.

Want to try it? SEENCAM gives your guests one QR code. They shoot from their own phones with no app to download, and every photo develops together when the roll opens. Free for up to 10 guests.
