Privacy

This policy covers https://seencam.app, the SEENCAM iPhone app, and the SEENCAM App Clip (together, “SEENCAM,” “we,” or “the Service”).

We collect only what we need to run the Service, and we do not sell or share your personal information for advertising.

1) Data we collect

Account & identifiers

• The display name you enter
• Name and email address, only if you choose to sign in with Apple or Google
• A random guest identifier and device key, so the app, App Clip or browser can keep your photos yours

User content

• Photos and short video clips you take
• Event details you create (name, cover image, times, settings)

Purchases

• Apple transaction details (transaction ID and product) used to confirm a purchase. Payment and card details are handled by Apple and never shared with us.

Diagnostics

• The web camera sends basic technical events (browser and device type, errors) so we can keep it working
• Our hosting providers keep standard request logs, such as IP address and device type

Face matching

• If you choose to find the photos you’re in, your selfie is compared with the event’s photos on your device only. Face data is never uploaded to our servers.

Website storage

• Basic browser storage and cookies on https://seencam.app to remember you, keep photos waiting to upload, and keep you signed in

Camera & photos

• Camera access only when you take a photo
• Photo library access only to save photos you choose (add-only)
• Access requires your device permission and is not used in the background

App Store privacy labels (summary)

Data linked to you: Name, Email Address (optional), Photos or Videos, User ID, Purchase History, Other User Content.
Data used for tracking: None. Third-party advertising: None.

2) How we use data

• Provide and operate the Service (create events, invite guests, upload and show photos)
• Process purchases and prevent fraud
• Send notifications you allow (for example, when an event ends or photos are revealed)
• Keep the Service safe
• Improve reliability and performance
• Comply with law and enforce our terms

Legal bases (EEA/UK): performance of a contract, legitimate interests, consent (where required), and legal obligation.

3) How we share data

We do not sell personal information. We do not allow cross-app tracking.

Within an event

• Event details and photos are visible to the host and guests according to the event’s settings
• Before photos are revealed, other guests see only a blurred preview
• Your display name may be shown to the host and other guests
• Anyone with an event’s album link can view its revealed photos

Service providers

• Supabase – database, authentication, storage
• Cloudflare – encrypted backup copies of photos
• Vercel – web hosting and APIs
• Apple – App Store purchases and Sign in with Apple
• Google – Sign in with Google

Providers access data only to perform services for us and must protect it.

4) Data retention

• Sign-in data: kept until you delete your account
• Photos: kept until the host deletes the event, the photo is removed, or the person who took it deletes their account
• Deleted accounts: personal data removed within 30 days
• Backup copies of deleted photos: removed within 30 days
• Face data in the browser: removed after 30 days
• Purchase records: kept for up to 7 years for tax and legal reasons

5) Security

• Encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
• Encryption at rest provided by our cloud vendors
• Private storage, reachable only through our servers

No security method is perfect. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

6) Your choices and rights

• Delete account: Settings → Delete Account in the app
• Manage notifications in your device settings

Contact support@seencam.app to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, or to ask for a photo you appear in to be removed.

• California (CCPA/CPRA): right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of sale/share (we do not sell or share); no discrimination for exercising rights
• EEA/UK (GDPR): rights to access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection, and restriction; you may lodge a complaint with your local authority

7) Children

SEENCAM is not for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided data, contact support@seencam.app and we will delete it.

8) International transfers

Our servers are in the United States, and your data may be processed in the U.S. and other countries. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

9) App Clip notes

The App Clip uses minimal data to let guests join an event and take photos with your permission. It uses camera and network access only while in use and follows this policy.

10) Changes to this policy

We will update this page when we change the policy. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect means you accept the new policy.
